Fans of the Star Wars series The High Republic were happy and elated when a game taking place within that timeline was announced late last year, as the series has been heralded as a prominent envelope pusher for LGBTQ+ representation in modern sci-fi media. This elation quickly turned sour as the upcoming game was revealed to be made by Quantic Dream, the company behind Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, both games that were critically acclaimed and beloved by fans of that genre.

The reason why they were upset, however, is because Quantic Dream's founder, David Cage, has had multiple quotes in the past year portraying him as anti-LGBTQ and berating those who don't appreciate his unique brand of gameplay — resulting in several controversies over the last year. Now, fans are rallying behind "#BlackOutStarWarsEclipse" as they voice their displeasure.

The hashtag was created a while ago, but today marks the first time it's gotten trending with a pushback personally calling out Cage and demanding that Lucasfilm put out a comment or statement on the matter, as the LGBTQ fans of Star Wars are on the verge of being cut out of their own favorite Star Wars media.
