On Tuesday, Asmongold, a prominent Twitch streamer known for playing MMORPGs, barely drinking water and streaming from a notoriously messy home, was banned from Twitch for two weeks after saying Palestinians are an "inferior culture," among other controversial statements.

Yesterday, he posted a response on YouTube apologizing for the comments and acknowledging, "I’ve slowly been devolving into the most mean-spirited—I don’t really even know what the words is for it—just the most mean-spirited, rude, callous, psychopathic version of myself."

He added, “I look back at some of the things that I’ve said and done over the past two years and I don’t think I’ve been wrong about everything obviously but there have been ways that I’ve communicated and ways that I’ve acted that are indefensible.”

Prior to Asmon's Palestine comments, the streamer often found himself siding with the proverbial right-wing side of cultural issues raging online this year. For example, he and his audience have been prominent voices in the diversity in gaming debate push in recent months.

According to a statement yesterday, he apparently will not be changing his stance on things like Sweet Baby Inc. or Dustborn when he makes his return, but he said he would use the time off to "fix his [effing] life," which he added in a follow-up post to his subreddit.

In the Reddit post, Asmongold stated, "The vibes and feel of the stream recently has been a lot more tense and a lot of that is my fault. If you think that means my first stream back is going to be playing Dustborn and promoting Sweet Baby, I think you'll be very disappointed. I'm not changing anything other than trying to be more positive and less mean-spirited."

He also added, "I’ll react to a DEI=DIE gaming video first day back to stream."

Thus, it seems that, despite the length and introspection of his apology video, Asmongold will continue discussing controversial political topics specifically related to gaming in his streams, despite his stated goal of making his content "more positive" and less "mean-spirited."

At the very least, he said he would clean his room.
