After just ten days of serving as the public face of the Trump administration, Anthony Scaramucci, the Wall Street businessman who was recently appointed as the White House Communications Director, has resigned from his position as of Monday morning.

According to ABC News, Scaramucci tendered his resignation to John Kelly, the newly appointed White House Chief of Staff, this morning with a request to be reassigned as chief strategy officer of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. It appears that Kelly demanded the resignation and The White House is spinning the event to say Scaramucci simply wanted to let Kelly begin with a clean slate.

Scaramucci’s tenure, though short-lived, didn't go unnoticed without its share of scandalous headlines from the very beginning; when the Trump administration first tapped the 53-year-old New York financier as the new White House senior staff just ten days ago, former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned in anger. Then on July 27th, Scaramucci's first official day as the White House Communications Director, The New Yorker published a profanity-laced, impromptu interview in which he gratuitously offered a painful rant about how he is going to crack down on leaks by threatening to fire the entire communications staff, not to mention his most infamous quote: "I'm not Steve Bannon. I'm not trying to suck my own cock."

In that conversation, he also admitted his suspicion that the now-former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus was the likely source of White House leaks and that Priebus had a vendetta against him. He then signed off from the call by saying he needed to fire off tweets that would drive Priebus crazy. Priebus resigned shortly after and was promptly replaced by Kelly.

Additionally, news stories about Scaramucci’s personal life dominated several days of the political gossip cycle on Twitter. Scaramucci had sold his company SkyBridge Capital to take the position. The day following the publication of The New Yorker article, The New York Post’s gossip column, Page Six, reported that Scaramucci's wife, Deidre Ball, had filed for divorce, less than a week after giving birth to Scaramucci’s second child. Less than a week before that news broke, Ball had given birth to Scaramucci's second child. Upon learning of the birth, rumors swirled that Scaramucci texted his wife “Congratulations. I’ll pray for our child,” although Ball has since denied this statement, according to a follow-up report from the New York Times.

Since the news of Scaramucci's ousting broke, Twitter has been buzzing with commentary and jokes. Politics Editor of The Daily Beast Sam Stein attempted to paint Scaramucci's tenure as sad, as Scaramucci had essentially sacrificed his company and family to take this job. Twitter disagreed.

Various puns and memes were fired off as well:

Scaramucci's tenure as White House Communications Director was the shortest in history, topping Jack Koehler, who served under Ronald Reagan for eleven days before it was discovered he was a part of the Nazi Youth as a child.

Adding insult to injury, it was reported today that Mooch was erroneously listed as dead in the new Harvard Law alumni directory.

I'm really disappointed. I felt like we could have gotten some great material out of this guy.

He really should have gotten that Boneitis taken care of.

Serious answer: Trump's style is cramped. He is used to being in absolute control of a business, and it's reasonable in that context to hire someone, give them a task, and then replace them if they fail the task. He may not appreciate that now some of those jobs require months-long confirmation. Even the ones that can be filled immediately will have billions of people publicly judging him. It's a totally different scenario and I'm not sure that he's adapting.

Flip answer: He got that lady from The Weakest Link and has to keep her busy.

I was curious as well so I checked and as far as I can tell their current overall narrative is Scaramucci came in explicitly to get rid of Priebus, did that, and then Kelly realized he was no longer needed and pushed for him to be removed.
