About

You're My Bird refers to a TikTok photo slideshow trend where users post a photo of themselves captioned, "X you're my bird," "X" being a loved one, followed by a photo of X captioned, "your what?" followed by a slide showing a labeled photo of a bronze statue from the "Hacienda Paradise – Utopia Experiment" collection, depicting a bird lifting a man off the ground, suggesting X is their source of encouragement and hope. The trend, often set to "Anchor" by Novo Amor, became popularized on the app in July 2023

Origin

It is unclear who started the "You're My Bird" trend on TikTok. The earliest examples were uploaded to the platform on July 25th, 2023. The most popular example uploaded that day under the original sound "anchor" by TikToker @.lovespotify was uploaded by TikToker[1] @uh..hiiii, garnering over 2 million views in three days (shown below).

The slideshow features the TikToker calling her boyfriend her bird, showing a photo of a bronze statue from Fredrik Raddum's 2017 collection "Hacienda Paradise – Utopia Experiment," which, according to Galleri Brandstrup,[2] "revolves around the human need for reinvention through relocating and migrating."

Spread

The trend spread over the following days, with the original sound[3] boasting over 72,000 uses by July 28th, 2023. Each video follows the same format, replacing "X" with another loved one. The most popular examples of the trend are slideshows, although some post videos in a more traditional format (examples shown below).
