You're Either Good at Bowling or Good In Bed is a catchphrase associated with a series of memes claiming that a person is either good at bowling or good in bed, but never good at both. The memes originate from a viral X / Twitter post made in July 2021 by @soupinthering. In 2022, TikTokers began using a variation of the phrase over videos of people either bowling well or bowling poorly, garnering viral spread across social media.
Origin
On July 9th, 2021, X[1] user @soupinthering posted, "men are either good at bowling or know how to eat p***y these are mutually exclusive," garnering over 45,000 likes and 8,000 reposts in three years.
Spread
On May 24th, 2022, u/Busy_Association5852 posted a meme to /r/DrewGooden[2] attaching an image of Drew Gooden saying he's "possibly the worst bowler in the entire world" to the tweet, garnering over 1,100 upvotes in two years.
On December 17th, 2022, TikToker[3] @ohwoah__ posted a video of a man getting a strike in bowling, captioned, ""Men are either good at bowling or good at eating🐱," garnering over 10 million views in two years.
Memes using versions of the catchphrase continued to prove popular on TikTok over the following years. For example, on November 21st, 2023, TikToker[4] @najeemosley posted a video of several men bowling, captioned, "you know what they say 'you're either good at bowling or good in bed,'" garnering over 5.4 million views in a year.
On February 28th, TikToker[5] @calesucks posted a video following the meme format in which the person in the video deliberately bowls poorly to prove that he is good in bed, garnering over 6.3 million views nine months.
On November 30th, TikToker[6] @nessa.wntr posted a video using the caption in which she bowls the ball straight into the gutter, garnering over 720,000 views in two weeks.
