You're Disrespecting A Future US Army Soldier refers to a popular Vine video in which a young boy attempts to win an argument by telling someone "You're disrespecting a future U.S. Army soldier." The clip became widely remixed, with many adding over-the-top American iconography.
Origin
While the original Vine appears lost, the earliest known post of the video appears on YouTube,[1] where it was posted July 27th, 2016 by user U G, gaining over 1.8 million views (shown below).
Spread
In the following years, the clip was widely remixed by multiple YouTubers. On August 7th, 2016, YouTuber Canned Failure posted an edit that gained over 3.5 million views (shown below, left). On February 22nd, 2018, YouTuber snickerdoods posted an edit which gained over 172,000 views (shown below, right).
Various Identity Claims
On June 17th, 2020, TikTok user @DanielAshley332 posted a video in which he claimed to be the boy in the original clip and showed that he was currently a U.S. Army soldier. The video gained over 20 million views (shown below, left). He posted a second video claiming to be the boy in the video on June 22nd (shown below, right). The story was covered by Barstool Sports.[1]
However, others believe the boy's identity was revealed months prior. Some believe he is now a Soundcloud rapper known as "Yvng Chelzea." Comments on Yvng Chelzea's videos make reference to the Vine (shown below, left).
