On August 27th, 2024, the first trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie was posted on YouTube.^[1] In a particular moment of the video (seen below), Sonic's rival, Shadow, looks at the trio of heroes and says the line, "You're a colorful bunch," which amassed more than 6 million views and 358,000 likes in two days.

A few hours after the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 film was posted online, netizens started to use a still frame of Shadow accompanied by his quote, "You're a colorful bunch," in memes and jokes on Reddit and X.

For example, on August 27th, 2024, Redditor^[2] ManuTheDorK posted a montage of Shadow alongside a picture of the Power Rangers TV Show to /r/SonicTheHedgehog, captioning it, "You're a colorful bunch," which amassed roughly 30 upvotes and three comments in two days (seen below).
