About
Your Politics Bore Me refers to a memorable quote said by Thanos in the 2014 Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy in which Thanos sits on a throne and says, "Your politics bore me." In early 2020, the quote was turned into an exploitable image macro when it was combined with an image of a kid sitting on a stack of Pepsi boxes resembling a throne, known as Kid Sitting On Pepsi Throne, mostly used to react to situations that are perceived as mundane or trivial to the meme creator.
Origin
The film Guardians of the Galaxy was released on April 1st, 2014. In the film, Thanos is sitting on a stoned throne with gold armor. The scene has been uploaded to YouTube several times, earning thousands of views. The video (shown below) was uploaded on May 14th, 2015, gaining 34,000 in six years.[1]
The image of the boy sitting on Pepsi boxes was first posted to the subreddit /r/Bossfights[2] on February 21st, 2020, by Redditor xertoten. Under the name "Diabeto, The unmovable." the post received 130 likes before being removed by moderators (shown below).
Spread
The image continued to spread with the quote later attached to it, as seen in the post on the subreddit /r/PoliticalCompassMemes[3] on October 26th, 2020, by Redditor Romulus-Sensei, which acquired 7,200 upvotes in one year (shown below).
On the Tumblr[4] page Rise Of The Druids, a template of the meme was posted on October 28th, 2020, that was used for future memes (shown below).
