Your Outie Likes X, also known as Learning About Your Outie, refers to a series of memes and viral videos based on a scene in the Apple TV+ show Severance when John Turturro's character Irving is learning about his "outie" (a term for a severed worker's outside self) during a wellness session with Ms. Casey, played by actress Dichen Lachman. The memes used the phrasal template "Your outie likes X" or "Your outie loves X" with the "X" being replaced by an activity, hobby or thing that one enjoys. The memes played on the expectation that one's outie is similar to them or cool. In turn, Your Outie Likes X memes often joked about being disappointed by one's outie. Many video skits on TikTok following the trend used POV captions about finding out one's outie is bad or stupid.

Origin

On February 18th, 2022, season 1, episode 2 of Severance titled, "Half Loop," was released on Apple TV+.^[1] In one scene, Irving, played by John Turturro, is having a wellness session with Ms. Casey, played by Dichen Lachman, who tells him about his outie, starting each sentence with the phrasal template, "You outie likes X" (YouTube^[2] upload shown below).

On May 4th, Twitter / X ^[4] user @bIoach tweeted a screencap of Ms. Casey from the scene, captioning it, "Your outie can freestyle for hours, you can even show him objects around the room and he'll incorporate it into his raps," gaining over 2,800 likes in three years (shown below).

In the following weeks, others added to the trend. For instance, on May 5th, 2022, X^[3] user @tamoorh tweeted a photo of Ms. Casey with the caption, "Your outie likes Bloodborne." The tweet received over 1,800 likes in three years (shown below).

In early 2025, the memes resurfaced en masse on TikTok. For instance, on January 19th, TikToker^[5] @hunter.hopewell posted a video skit about his outie having a cringe "Top Artist" for their Spotify Wrapped, gaining over 36,200 likes in a month (shown below).

On January 28th, 2025, TikToker^[6] @orimab posted a similar video skit about finding out that her outie is a loser, amassing over 70,600 likes in 16 days (shown below).
