Origin
On February 5th, 2019, President Trump joked "You weren't supposed to do that" after Congresswomen wearing suffragette white outfits clapped and chanted "USA" after a mention of women filling "58% of the newly created jobs" over the last year (shown below).
The following day, Redditor TheEarthIsACylinder uploaded a captioned screencap from the clip, featuring a joke about the YouTube Dislike Button (shown below). Within 24 hours, the post garnered more than 31,700 points (98% upvoted) and 130 comments on /r/dankmemes.[1]
Spread
On February 7th, 2019, Redditor reggiethelemur submitted a captioned version of the screencap with a joke about anti-vax parents (shown below, left). Within 12 hours, the post gained over 4,900 points on /r/dankmemes.[2] That day, Redditor ViceroyGunrayTheLad submitted the image captioned with a joke about LEGOs, gathering more than 2,900 points (99% upvoted) on /r/dankmemes[3] within eight hours (shown below, right).
Meanwhile, Redditor WeeklyPlane6 posted a version about skipping ads on YouTube to /r/dankmemes[4] (shown below, left). Also on February 7th, Redditor Shivam091 posted a meta-joke about appreciating memes while scrolling through the subreddit to /r/dankmemes[5] (shown below, right).
