Origin

On July 18th, 2020, TikToker kuchiyos uploaded a video in which she is dressed like a skateboarder, and the parents she meets say "oh u must be the cheerleader my sons dating" (shown below). The video, which suggests that her boyfriend is cheating, gained over 383,400 likes in six days.

Spread

On July 22nd, 2020, TikToker charlotteroseandfriends uploaded a popular variation of the trend where the parents say, "so you're the girl who's been leaving her scrunchies all over my sons room?" (shown below, left). The video received over 1.7 million likes in two days. The next day, TikTokers foxteef and lorengrey uploaded popular examples where they are dressed the opposite as the parents describe (shown below, right). The videos acquired over 1.8 million and 1.1 million likes respectively in a day (shown below, right). StayHipp^[2] published an article on the trend.
