You Just Got Freddy Fazbeared is a bait-and-switch sound effect in which the prank is a person opens up a TikTok or other social media video only to discover a clip of the character Freddy Fazbear from Five Nights and Freddy's and a voice telling them that they've been pranked. The meme is similar to You've Been Gnomed and Beaned.

Origin

On December 6th, 2022, TikTok user @._qwertyz._^[1] uploaded a video in which Five Nights and Freddy's characters tell the viewer they got "Freddy Fazbeared" and that they should send the video to their friends to "Totally Freddy Fazbear" them. The video gained over 315,000 likes in six months (shown below).

Over the following six months, the sound was used in 872 videos on TikTok as of June 27th, 2023.^[2] Some popular videos utilizing the sound include a December 14th, 2022 post by @Freddyfoosebear that utilized a Freddy doll, gaining over 53,000 likes in six months (shown below, left) and an April 1st, 2023 video by @sly_p1e that gained over 840 likes in three months (shown below, right). A YouTube reupload of the latter video gained over 89,000 views in the same timeframe.^[3]
