NASA shared a picture of Tokyo from space in early January 2024, which is a similar image used on the anime’s opening credits, inspiring fans of the show to flood the comment section with the catchphrase said at the start of the song, “You are my special.”

Origin

On January 1st, 2024, NASA’s^[1] Johnson Space Center shared on Facebook a view of Japan’s capital, Tokyo, which was pictured from the International Space Station as it orbited 261 miles above sea level. The image (shown below) amassed over 29,900 likes and 38,000 shares in a day.

Spread

Shortly after the post on January 1st, 2024, Jujutsu Kaisen fans then noticed a similarity between NASA’s Tokyo picture and the anime’s second season opening credits, flooding the New Year’s Facebook post with the catchphrase, “You are my special,” which is the first line said in the song “SPECIALZ” by King Gnu. That day, X^[2] user @JJK_Mya shared a screenshot showing some of the comments using the catchphrase (shown below), which amassed more than 24,000 likes and 3,000 retweets in a day.

On the same day, X^[3] user @girlfailur3 shared an edited video of a man listening to the music “SPECIALZ” by King Gnu with the caption "you are my special." The post (shown below) amassed over 181,000 views and 6,200 likes in a day.
