Yo, Fryman! is a photoshop meme based on an outline drawing of the character Carl Brutananadilewski from the animated TV series Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Similar to other character-based exploitables, the base image is often custom-edited to resemble other fictional characters.

Origin

The contour drawing of Carl Brutananadilewski is based on a screen capture of the character's first appearance in the pilot episode titled “Rabbot,” which originally aired on December 30th, 2000.^[2]

On July 7th, 2010, a thread was created in the /a/^[3] (anime and manga) board on 4chan with an exploitable outline drawing of Brutananadilewski, with the OP asking other members to “make this anime” (shown below). The meme eventually became known as "Yo, Fryman!" after numerous sequel threads appeared on the site under the same title, which in itself is a reference to the way Brutananadilewski often addresses Frylock, another main character from the show.

Spread

On June 13th, 2010, a new thread was created on the /a/^[4] board for additional photoshopped variations of the Brutananadilewski template, which received over 300 responses prior to being archived. Two additional Brutananadilewski exploitable threads were posted in /a/^[5][6] in August and October that year. On December 2nd, FunnyJunk^[7] user BILLYBAM submitted an illustration of the character Link from the video game series The Legend of Zelda edited with Brutananadilewski's face (shown below).

On November 21st, 2011, a Brutananadilewski photoshop was made on the YouChew Forums.^[8] On October 8th, 2013, Facepunch Forums^[9] member The golden created a thread containing Yo Fryman photoshops, gathering more than 140 responses in the next six months. On February 5th, 2014, the YoFryman Tumblr^[10] blog was launched, which highlights notable examples of the photoshop meme.
