The term is often used loosely and ironically, adding "yellow font btw" to videos with funny captions that are not meant to be genuinely emotional.

A prime example of this can be seen in videos by TikToker^[1] @ericcromartie who, throughout late 2025, started going viral by posting videos with emotional, honest or thoughtful captions in yellow font.

In November 2025, TikToker^[2] @yellowfont.halfspeed started posting videos that poke fun at the idea of using yellow font in emotional videos, popularizing the trend of writing "yellow font" at the end of a yellow fonted caption.

One of the earliest notable examples was posted on November 23rd, 2025, captioned, "I'll never be the same again, but maybe that's the point yellow font," garnering over 1.3 million views in about three weeks.
