YABABAINA is a song by Vocaloid music producer Satapan P featuring Hatsune Miku, Zundamon and Kasane Teto. The song and music video was released in mid-February 2024 and followed shortly by a video edit in which the song is played over a game of Brick Breaker, inspiring memes in March 2024 in which a portion of the music video is re-animated with new characters.
Origin
On February 25th, 2024, Vocaloid music producer Satapan P posted a music video for an original song YABABAINA featuring Hatsune Miku, Teto Kasane and Zundamon, to YouTube,[1] garnering over 594,000 views in a month (shown below). The music video features an eclectic, colorful style as three Vocaloids sing the song.
On March 1st, Satapan P posted a video to TikTok[9] in which the song plays during a game of Brick Breaker. The song only plays each time a brick is hit, restarting when the ball stops hitting bricks. The video gained over 1.8 million views in three weeks (shown below).
Spread
The song became notably popular throughout March 2024, inspiring fan art and re-animation memes in which a portion of the music video is recreated with other characters. For example, on March 19th, 2024, X[2] user @ra1skka posted a Hello Charlotte re-animation that gained over 500 likes in three days. On March 20th, TikToker[3] @mofu_fumoth posted a version that gained over 40,000 views in two days (shown below).
Later that day, X[4] user @cksodaa posted a version that gained over 1,200 likes in the same span of time. On March 21st, TikToker[5] @phong953h posted a Breaking Bad re-animation that gained over 26,000 views in a day (shown below, right).
That same day, X[6] user @hushedprayer posted a re-animation of the video that gained over 1,000 likes in a day. Later that day, X[7] user @K0T0H1KA posted a Pokemon re-animation based on the video, garnering over 450 likes in a day (shown below). Redditor u/Saikiscoffee_jelly posted a Death Note redraw of the scene to /r/deathnote[8] that gained over 180 upvotes in a day.
