Ya Ya Ya Boomerangs refers to a series of TikTok videos using the portion of the 2016 song "Bad and Boujee" by Migos [2] where the lyrics repeat "ya ya ya" to move repetitively. In June 2020, the videos saw a surge in popularity on the platform following the upload of the sound "Hott Headzz Ya Ya Ya."
Origin
On June 1st, 2020, TikToker emann_hh danced in repetitive motions to the sound clip of "Bad and Boujee" titled "Hott Headzz Ya Ya Ya – emann_hh" (shown below). The video gained over 657,000 likes in 29 days.
Spread
On June 20th, TikToker katiesmith.ghssoftball used the sound to open and close a drawer repeatedly (shown below, left). The video accumulated over 2.9 million likes in 10 days. On June 20th, TikToker harry.rs uploaded a video in which his whole room repeatedly moves to the beat and received over 2.4 million likes in ten days (shown below, center). On June 26th, TikToker daxnewman769 uploaded another popular variation that garnered over 1.5 million likes in four days (shown below, right). StayHipp[1] published an article on the trend.
