The earliest known upload of a meme featuring the scene of James Sunderland walking in the fog from the video game Silent Hill 2 with text that reads, "My dick has lead me to places I wouldn't even go with a gun" was an August 20th, 2021, post by iFunny^[1] user @MexArmstrung, followed by a repost on September 27th by TheCringeChannel^[2] that gathered over 25,000 smiles and 400 comments in two years (seen below).

The image was subsequently reposted to Tumblr^[3] and X (formerly Twitter)^[4] in October 2021.

On October 22nd, 2021, the Instagram^[5] page @dank.lloyd.wright posted a version of the meme with the word "gun" replaced by "Cornell Architecture Degree." The post gathered over 1,000 likes in two years (seen below, left). On March 20th, 2023, the Instagram^[6] page @rrmeggy posted a version of the meme with "dick" replaced by "BPD," gathering over 7,000 likes in seven months (seen below, right).

On October 7th, 2023, X^[7] user @whotfisjovana posted a version of the meme that gathered over 40,000 likes in two months (seen below, left), while iFunny^[8] user @CHIMERICLAIN posted a version of the meme that read, "committing to the bit," on November 29th, gathering over 25,000 smiles in a day (seen below, right).
