About
Would You Still Love Me If I Was A Worm? is a cliché question girlfriends ask their boyfriends to gauge how much they really love them outside of their physicality. The question became memeworthy due to its nonsensical nature, as well as its remixability as a phrasal template. It originates from a viral tweet in 2019 and spread to Facebook and TikTok. On Halloween day in 2022, Heidi Klum's worm costume from her annual Hallowe'en Party caused a resurgence in the meme as people online referenced it alongside the pop culture discussion.
Origin
On June 7th, 2019, Twitter[1] user shutyourhell posted a tweet that outlined an imagined conversation between her and her husband at 3 A.M. She starts off crying, prompting the husband to pry at what's wrong, ultimately being, "idk i just feel like if we were born as worms u wouldn’t like me .. would u even marry me ? whatever just forget it …" Over the course of three years, the tweet received roughly 34,200 likes (shown, below, left). On June 26th, 2019, Twitter[2] user shutyourhell posted another tweet reading, "would u guys still like me if i was a worm .. ? idk i feel like u wouldn’t .. whatever … just forget it .." earning roughly 18,600 likes in three years (shown below, right).

Going into 2021 and 2022, the worm question became increasingly prominent on TikTok, resulting in creators substituting in different animals or nouns at its end. For instance, on April 24th, 2021, TikToker[8] ailaughatmyownjokes asked her boyfriend if he'd still love her if she was a tank, earning roughly 14.4 million plays and 2.6 million likes in 14 months (shown below, left).
