Women's Romance vs. Men's Romance refers to a redraw trend that was popularized on X / Twitter in February 2025. The meme is inspired by a webcomic originally posted by Twitter / X user @GameOverStation, with internet users joking about the differences (or lack thereof) between men's and women's romance fiction.

Origin

The Women's vs. Men's Romance webcomic was posted by fantasy writer and webcomic artist Shami Stovall on her X^[1][2] account @GameOverStation on January 17th and again on February 6th, 2025. The second post gathered over 12,000 likes in five days.

The comic portrays Women's Romance as a woman being consensually choked by someone who says, "I'm going to kill you," and Men's Romance as a man saying, "I'm going to love you and take care of you all," while surrounded by a harem of human and furry women.

On February 8th, 2025, Twitter / X^[3] user @pegobry_en reposted the image in reaction to an article about how "Men are creating AI girlfriends and then verbally abusing them." The post gathered over 63,000 likes in three days.

On February 9th, 2025, X^[4] user @feywildes posted an edit of the image, showing their take on "Women's Romance" vs. "Men's Romance," showing a man saying, "It's the first day of your period, are you okay my love," and a large-breasted female saying, "Hello Master, I am 16 years old."

On February 10th, X^[5] user @_rawrell posted an edit of the meme that showed "Men's Romance" as a murderous and obsessive girl, gathering over 2,000 likes in a day.

Later on February 10th, 2025, X^[6] user @DongyJammin posted a version of the meme featuring The Simpsons "Drive Like This" gag, gathering over 14,000 likes in a day.

Also on February 10th, X^[7] user @kei_viada added a panel to the webcomic showing the band "My Chemical Romance," gathering over 88,000 likes in a day.
