Wiggle Fox, also known as the Anthrocon 2023 Fox Puppet is a white fox marionette created by fox therian TheHearthFox in late June 2023. Wiggle Fox went viral during the Anthrocon 2023 furry convention, which took place between June 29th and July 2nd, inspiring numerous viral videos of the puppet dancing, memes and pieces of fan art depicting the marionette. HearthFox originally made the puppet as a tribute to a deceased friend in the furry fandom.

Origin

On June 25th, 2023, Twitter^[1] user and furry @TheHearthFox, aka Ash, posted a photograph of a work-in-progress white fox puppet, Wiggle Fox, writing, "Just gotta string them up :)" garnering over 190 likes in a week (shown below). That day, Ash posted a video of the puppet dancing to Twitter^[2] and TikTok,^[3] garnering over 1,700 likes and 34,000 views respectively in a week.

Anthrocon 2023, a furry convention, took place between June 29th and July 2nd, 2023. Ash attended the convention with Wiggle Fox. Over the course of the convention, numerous attendants began to post videos and photos of Wiggle Fox, often showing the puppet dancing. For example, on June 30th, Twitter^[4] user @samoyote posted a photo of Wiggle Fox drinking from a cup, garnering over 300 likes in five days. Later that day, Twitter^[5] user @DrWildlife posted a video of Wiggle Fox dancing in their hands, garnering over 13,000 likes in the same span of time (shown below).

On July 1st, Twitter^[6] user @Verselynx posted footage of Wiggle Fox dancing at the rave, garnering over 7,600 likes in four days. Later that day, @TheHearthFox posted a video to Twitter^[7] of Wiggle Fox dancing on another furry's paws, garnering over 7,000 likes in the same span of time (shown below, left and right).

Later that day, HearthFox made a post to Twitter^[8] thanking people for their love of Wiggle Fox, garnering over 26,700 likes in four days. On July 3rd, the same Twitter^[9] user posted a comic featuring Wiggle Fox, garnering over 52,000 likes in two days (shown below, left and right).

On July 4th, HearthFox posted a video of Wiggle Fox doing the Pinegrove Shuffle to TikTok,^[10] garnering over 52,000 views in under 24 hours (shown below). The video was also posted to Twitter,^[11] garnering over 8,000 likes in a similar span of time.
