Why You Ain't Accept My Friend Request, Bro? is a viral video and audio clip of rapper Kevin Gates saying, "Hey bro, why you ain't accept my friend request, bro? What, you don't wanna be my friend?" and then laughing. The video was uploaded to TikTok in April 2022 and went viral over the following months, inspiring lip dubs, comedy skits and animations using the audio clip.

On April 6th, 2022, rapper and TikToker^[1] @iamkevingates posted a video showing a black screen where he asks, "Hey bro, why you ain't accept my friend request, bro? What, you don't wanna be my friend?" then laughs, garnering over 4.9 million views in a year (shown below).

Spread

The original sound for Gates' video became notably popular on TikTok over the following months, inspiring over 17,000 uses in a year. Some of the most popular early examples feature the audio over footage of an unaccepted friend request or profile of a dead celebrity. For example, on April 21st, 2022, TikToker^[2] @notmasterm421 posted a video using the audio over Juice Wrld's gamertag, garnering over 1.1 million views in a year (shown below, left). On June 24th, TikToker^[3] @8arrt posted a version of the meme showing XXXTENTACION's gamertag, garnering over 2.8 million views in the same rough span of time (shown below, right).

On March 12th, 2023, TikToker^[4] @dodie.doo posted a South Park fan animation using the audio clip, garnering over 400,000 views in seven months (shown below, left). On June 26th, TikToker^[5] @singamajig4 posted a video using the audio that gained over 3.1 million views in four months (shown below, right).
