Whomst Has Summoned The Almighty One or Cat Summon is an image macro depicting a photo of a white cat standing on a glowing purple or orange circle, captioned, "whomst has summoned the almighty one." The format is most often used in image caption memes and was originally uploaded with its orange circle to Imgur in February 2016 and photoshopped purple in May 2017, the caption was then added in July 2019. The caption is also used as a catchphrase in similar memes using alternative images.

Origin

On February 4th, 2016, Imgur^[1] user burningsolar posted a photo of a cat on a glowing yellow circle marked with runic imagery, titled, "what kind of demon is this," gaining over 4,200 upvotes in six years (shown below). It was reposted to Tumblr^[2] by satanika-mur on March 4th, gaining over 368,000 notes in a similar span of time. The image was used in a variety of memes over the following years, including an October 12th post by Tumblr^[3] user helltitty that gained over 53,000 notes.

On May 31st, 2017, Tumblr^[4] user purrpleaesthetic posted a photoshopped version of the image tinted purple, gaining over 17,800 notes in five years (shown below, left). On July 31st, 2019, Redditor IUsedToPlayTrumpet posted an image macro to /r/me_irl^[5] using the purple photoshop. The top text reads, "stranger: *says something that vaguely resembles my name* / my deaf ass:" and the image is captioned, "Whomst has summoned the almighty one." The post gained over 43,000 upvotes in three years (shown below, right).

Spread

Both the original and purple captioned versions of the meme saw increased use over the following years. On August 27th, 2019, Facebook^[6] page Tragic Beautiful posted a version of the meme about cats running when they hear snacks, gaining over 2,700 shares and 2,200 reactions in three years. On September 8th, Redditor ThatApurv posted an image macro using the meme to /r/memes,^[7] gaining over 21,000 upvotes in a comparable span of time (shown below).

On June 12th, 2020, the 9GAG Instagram^[8] page posted a meme from 9gag^[9] user noobmaster9669, gaining over 664,000 likes in two years (shown below, left). On January 3rd, 2022, Instagram^[10] user jeremyandhisgenius posted a Top Gear meme using the caption over a new image, gaining over 25,000 likes in five months (shown below, right).
