About
Who Screamed At Rebecca Ferguson Theories refers to discussions and debates that ensued after Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson revealed during a press junket for Dune 2 that she had once been screamed at on set by a top-billing costar. Internet sleuths set out to dissect her filmography in late February 2024 to figure out which actor she was referring to, with past costars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Emily Blunt denying being the subject of the anecdote, and Ferguson ruling out Tom Cruise and Hugh Jackman herself. Leading theories as of February 29th appeared to point to Michael Fassbender, Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Grant, and Alec Baldwin.
Origin
On February 27th, 2024, Rebecca Ferguson revealed in an interview that she was once screamed at by an "idiot" costar while on set. She described the actor as being "so insecure and angry" because they "couldn't get the scenes out," to the point where they began saying things like "You call yourself an actor?" and "This is what I have to work with?" to her.
She said that the actor was number one on the call sheet, meaning that there was "no safety net" for her. The next day, she says that she walked into work and had the co-star turn around so she could act to the back of their head instead of their face.
She says that the incident took place within her last 10 to 12 years of acting, and clarified that the abusive actor in question was not Hugh Jackson or Tom Cruise, who she worked with on The Greatest Showman and Mission Impossible, respectively.
Dune's Rebecca Ferguson reveals she refused to work with former co-star after being 'screamed at' on set. This is reminder to ALWAYS stand up for yourself! Listen to the full interview on my podcast, Reign here: https://t.co/aHUegXotEi #DunePartTwo #Dune2 #RebeccaFerguson pic.twitter.com/7mRv1jNoBu

Also on February 27th, X[3] user @theoceanblooms suggested that the co-star could be a woman considering Furgeson's use of gender-neutral language. The post (seen below, top) gathered over 17,000 likes in two days. On February 28th, however, news about Emily Blunt denying being the actor in question made the rounds, as seen in a post by X[4] user @DannyVegito that gathered over 9,000 likes (seen below, bottom).
On February 28th, 2024, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson posted a reply to Josh Smith's interview with Ferguson, writing, "Hate seeing this but love seeing her stand up to bullshit. Rebecca was my guardian angel sent from heaven on our set. I love that woman. I’d like to find out who did this," and gathering over 7,000 likes in a day (seen below, left).[5]
Internet users nonetheless joked about the Rock being the co-star in question, likening his reply to OJ Simpson saying he avoids Los Angeles in fear of "Whoever Did It." One such post by X user @JGrffs[6] gathered over 39,000 likes in a day (seen below, right).
