Who Is He? is a reaction image and exploitable meme depicting a scene of the children's animated cartoon Peppa Pig, showing a man with brown hair, stubble and a teal shirt looking in through a kitchen window at Peppa Pig's family. The man is notably highlighted with a red arrow and a yellow circle with the text "Who is he?" below. The picture originally comes from a YouTube video thumbnail by the channel TubbyTank, which was uploaded in April 2025.

In late 2025 and early 2026, the thumbnail spread online as a reaction meme, primarily as a sticker on TikTok in comment sections. As it garnered virality in early 2026, it was also recreated by memers who mimicked the style of the original image with other pop culture figures and IPs. The Peppa Pig scene with the human man in the meme is not actually from the show and appears to be a custom edit that added him into the window. Due to the mystery and virality surrounding him, the man also became the source of analog horror videos as he spread.

Origin

On April 10th, 2025, YouTuber^[1] TubbyTank uploaded a video, titled "SHOCKING Mysteries In Peppa Pig That Can't Be UNCOVERED," that discussed various mysteries in the kids' TV show Peppa Pig. The video notably used a thumbnail featuring a scene with Peppa Pig's family gathered around a dinner table while a guy with brown hair, stubble and a teal shirt looks in on them through the kitchen window, highlighted with a red arrow and a yellow circle with the text "Who is he?" below him.

In nine months, the video received over 242,000 views, 1,100 likes and 190 comments, many of which commented on the thumbnail and referenced the Who Is He? meme that it later spawned in the following months.

The human man in the window, however, is not addressed in TubbyTank's video, and it's unknown who he is. Presumably, the character was created by TubbyTank and edited into the original scene that actually comes from the series.

The unedited moment from Peppa Pig with the window closed and the man missing was used as a thumbnail in a Hollywood Reporter^[2] article published on August 22nd, 2018, which discussed a Peppa Pig film being released in China.

The man is also notably featured in another thumbnail by YouTuber TubbyTank, which was uploaded on April 22nd, 2025, in a video titled "Hidden SECRETS In Peppa Pig You NEVER NOTICED."

Spread

It's unknown who first posted the edited Peppa Pig scene from TubbyTank's YouTube thumbnail and used it as a reaction image, but based on Google Trends, the meme appeared sometime in mid-November 2025, likely in TikTok comment sections.

On November 13th, 2025, Tenor^[3] user Stinkyfard23 uploaded a low-res, cropped version of the thumbnail to the site under the title "Who Is He Meme," which later became the most prevalent version of the reaction image on TikTok over the following weeks and months.

On November 25th, TikTok^[4] user limberlouie posted the meme to the platform with a voice-over of someone expressing disbelief at why the man is there looking at Peppa Pig's family, garnering over 1,870 likes and 210 comments in two months. On November 19th, TikToker^[5] limberlouie notably posted a similar video using TubbyTank's second thumbnail that included the man and a child with red eyes.

As the seemingly random man inserted into Peppa Pig scenes continued growing in notoriety and being used in memes in late 2025, additional videos featuring him and attempting to learn who he is spread online.

For instance, on December 6th, TikToker^[6] justexplainitbro posted a video on the man becoming an analog horror character, additionally including other images of him, receiving over 4,800 likes and 710 comments in roughly two months.

On January 4th, 2026, as the Who Is He? meme reached saturation on TikTok and became commonly spammed in comment sections, TikToker^[7] sana.spirit shared a video with a caption about opening comment sections on the platform and seeing the photo, garnering over 338,300 likes and 2,300 comments in three weeks.

The meme also spread to other social media platforms and sites in early 2026. For example, on January 13th, Redditor Plus_Success_1321 used it in a post on the /r/thecampaigntrail^[8] subreddit in a post titled "Martin O'Malley in 2016DNC and then getting his own mod," which accumulated nearly 130 upvotes and 12 comments in 15 days.

Family Guy, Simpsons and Other Variants

Additional versions of the Who Is He? meme spread online following the Peppa Pig variant in late 2025 and early 2026, with a version from The Simpsons and another from Family Guy becoming the two most prominent.

On December 30th, 2025, Tenor^[9] user soulzyywoulzyy uploaded The Simpsons version of the meme to the site with the memetic character Gumbly or Graggle Simpson circled in red with the caption "Who is he?"

On January 8th, 2026, Tenor^[10] user caxify then uploaded the Family Guy variant depicting a child wearing a beanie and a blue shirt with the letter N on it to the site.

On December 29th, 2025, TikTok^[11] user boxofcows posted a compilation of the different Who Is He? memes spreading on the platform at the time, including the Family Guy and Simpsons versions, garnering over 204,900 likes and 2,100 comments in a month.
