Origin

The cartoon depicting a man so obese he cannot see the "poor" he's looking for under his gut is a political cartoon that can be traced as far back as 2012.^[1]

On March 3rd, 2025, Twitter / X^[2] user @lilchiikawa_ posted a version of the meme showing a fat Usagi looking for a small Chiikawa hidden under his belly. The post gathered over 56,000 likes in a week.
