About

When I'm Back on the Prowl (Tattletail), also known as Tattletail Serving or Tattletail Slaying, refers to a series of Roblox videos in which people use a long-legged, supermodel-like avatar of Tattletail from the Tattletail video game series paired with a remix of Nicki Minaj's song "Boss Ass Bitch," centering on its lyrics "When Iโ€™m back on the prowl, you bitches better have my money, โ€™cause Iโ€™m coming for you." The videos, predominantly recorded in Brookhaven, went viral on TikTok in late 2023, trending in FlopTok circles. Many likened Tattletail's walk and dance to the slang terms "slay" and "serve."

Origin

Before late 2023, Nicki Minaj's song "Boss Ass Bitch" and its "When I'm back on the prowl" verse[1] were used in viral Roblox videos on TikTok,[2] starting in October 2021.

Roughly two years later, on December 11th, 2023, TikToker[3] @extraordinaryhiyoko posted a Roblox video that showed two Tattletail avatars (one with long legs) walking in Brookhaven, set to a sped-up remix of "Boss Ass Bitch." Over one week, the video gained roughly 1.5 million plays and 250,000 likes (shown below). It is currently the first known video of the TikTok trend.

Spread

Going into December 2023, others on the app stared to use the TikTok sound[4] of @extraordinaryhiyoko's video. For instance, on December 12th, 2023, TikToker[5] @elaina_ilovechrismas_12 added a text caption to the video, reading, "Me at school," gaining over 245,600 plays and 39,100 likes in six days (shown below, left).

On December 13th, 2023, TikToker[6] @squisheyfartbum posted a video with fan art of the Roblox Tattletail, writing, "that roblox tattletail serving on my fyp," gaining over 796,800 plays and 159,300 likes in five days (shown below, right).

Fan art and animations persisted on TikTok in December 2023, such as an animation of Tattletail's walk posted by TikToker[7] @dream_cloudoxo on December 16th, gaining over 140,200 plays and 30,200 likes in two days (shown below, left).

During the same timeframe, TikTokers started using different remixes of the Nicki Minaj song, such as TikToker[8] @mrworldwidereturns on December 17th, 2023, who received over 203,800 plays and 41,900 likes in a day (show below, right).

Reposts and original videos that were part of the trend surfaced on YouTube[9] in December 2023. By December 18th, 2023, the trend's primary TikTok sound[4] had amassed over 6,400 uses.
