Origin

On May 26th, 2016, YouTuber[6] The Shiny posted a short video of someone filling out the page of The Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book (shown below). The video was viewed 5,145 times within two years.

Spread

On August 9th, 2018, Redditor[1] Future_Pro posted the first variant to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid meme subreddit, r/LodedDiper, with the second brain labeled "The person who would proofread Hitler's Speeches was a grammar Nazi" (shown below, left). The post gained 1,000 points (96% upvoted) within the first day. Redditor[3] Bacon_Kitteh9001 also posted to r/LodedDiper with a variant labeling the second brain "glue is just boneless tape" (shown below, right). The posted gained 206 points (99% upvoted) within the first day.

That same day, Redditors took to posting variants to other subreddits. Redditor[4] MoreFurryTrash posted the blank format to the subbreddit MemeEconomy (shown below, left). The post gained 606 points (96% upvoted) and 299 comments within the first day. Redditor[5] Japacheeze posted a variant to DankMemes subreddit with the second brain labeled "Bionicles" and "More Bionicles" (shown below, right). The post gained 112 points (93% upvoted) within the first day.
