About
What Does Drawing Humans Sideways Say About You? or You Are Serious, You Are Horny refers to a graphic depicting two different styles of drawing noses on human characters from a side-profile view and what they say about the character, the first style purportedly suggesting "you are serious" and the second suggesting "you are horny." The post was made by X / Twitter user @legendfroggy in late June 2024 and became the subject of redraws and referential memes and pieces of artwork over the following days.
Origin
On June 23rd, 2024, X[1] artist @legendfroggy posted a graphic captioned, "What does drawing humans sideways say about you?" Below the text are two drawings of sideways human faces. The drawing on the left features an average, pointed nose with text underneath reading, "You are serious." The drawing on the right has a more angular nose that slopes more organically into the mouth and features text underneath reading, "You are horny." The post gained over 45,000 likes and 2,300 reposts in three days (shown below).
The post is seemingly made in reference to the way some artists might draw lewd, anime-style or furry characters.
Spread
The artwork became the subject of memes and redraws over the following days, largely through the quote-reposts. For example, on June 24th, 2024, X[2][3] users @Fujoshiolympics and @CEOofTrends posted plays on the meme, the former offering two styles of drawing stick figures and the latter offering a crudely drawn side-profile human, garnering over 31,000 likes and 18,000 likes respectively in two days (shown below, left and right).
Later that same day, X[4] user @LiamBeUponYe posted a version of the meme drawing side profiles of Beavis and Butthead, garnering over 33,000 likes in two days (shown below).
On June 25th, 2024, X[5] user @piipstachio posted an edit of the original image, using it as an image macro, with the second caption under the right-most character reading, "you watched too many of those YouTube musical animatics," garnering over 26,000 likes in a day (shown below).
