The song "I Always Wanted a Brother," which shows Mufasa and Taka's brotherly bond, was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and released on Disney's YouTube[1] channel on December 20th, 2024, gathering over 1 million views in a week. An audio-only version of the song was released a week prior on December 13th.[2]
TikToker[3] @holly.rosado.175 was one of the first to post an edit set to the song "I Always Wanted a Brother," gathering over 2.5 million plays and 200,000 likes in two weeks.

Several TikTokers began making videos set to the song "I Always Wanted a Brother" from Mufasa: The Lion King, including @shiftwtff,[4] who posted several audio messages exchanged by his siblings in which they joke about how the word "brother" is pronounced and dragged out in the song. The video gathered over 7 million plays and 1.2 million likes in four days.
Also on December 23rd, TikToker[5] @xissexx posted a video lipsyncing to the song, highlighting the lyric, "If you put your paws on my brother," and gathering over 900,000 plays and 180,000 likes in four days.
On December 25th, TikToker[6] @meghan__lane__ posted a video miming the song with her brother, gathering over 500,000 plays and 60,000 likes in two days.
Several internet users also noted Lin-Manuel Miranda's work on the song, with TikToker[7] @blondeblueeyedbaddie247 posting a video on December 26th, 2024, writing, "I can sense the spirit of Lin Manuel Miranda in a song like sharks sense blood in the water." The post gathered over 2 million plays and 400,000 likes in a day.
