What Breed Is He? Just A Little Boy is an exploitable used in a series of memes where an image of a cute or ironically cute animal or character is shown over an attached YouTube comment string where one user writes, "What breed is he?" and another answers, "Just a little boy." The first meme to use the comments was posted to Instagram in July 2017 and inspired new variations over the following years.

Origin

On July 13th, 2017, awwmemes.com[1] archived a meme by a now-deleted Instagram page showing a screenshot of a baby tapir calf standing in the water. Attached to the image is a string of comments where user Part Alien writes, "What breed is he?" and user Pugia replies, "Just a little boy." The post gained over 4,200 likes by the time it was archived (shown below). It is unknown what YouTube video the comments come from.



On April 25th, 2018, Facebook[2] page Incoming memes posted another version of the meme using the comments under an image of a cockatoo, garnering over 170 shares and 680 reactions in four years. This is the earliest known variation on the meme (shown below).

On July 30th, 2019, the cockatoo version of the mem was reposted by Instagram[3] user spilledmyjuice, garnering over 960 likes in three years. On September 26th, iFunny[4] user HawkOfLight posted a version of the meme using a scene from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. On March 27th, 2021, Instagram[5] user 3.141592653589793238462643383 posted a version of the meme using an image of a small dog, garnering over 149,000 likes in a year (shown below). It was reposted to Facebook[6] page dogecore on March 29th, garnering over 1,800 shares and 4,100 reactions in the same span of time.



On October 15th, 2021, Instagram[7] page _spoingus posted a version of the meme with a cat with large eyes, garnering over 334,000 likes in a year (shown below, left). On November 11th, Instagram[8] page bingus.official posted a version of the meme using a Bingus image, garnering over 33,800 likes in a year (shown below, right).
