What Are You Gonna Do With That Big Bat?, continued Gonna hit me? Better make it count. Better make it hurt. Better kill me in one shot, refers to a voiced-over image of an anthropomorphic baseball reading the quote in a distorted, demonic-sounding cadence. The image alongside the quote was originally tweeted in 2017 and first voiced over in 2018, becoming a popular catchphrase on image macros over the next three years.

Origin

On an unknown date in 2017, the now-deleted Twitter account @MisterBaseball5 posted an image macro showing an anthropomorphic baseball under a quote telling the reader to hit them hard and make it count, telling them they better kill them in one shot (shown below).



On March 8th, 2018, YouTuber[1] chovythebear posted a voiced-over version of the image, garnering over 14,000 views in three years (shown below).



Spread

Over the course of the next two years, the meme was shared across social media a number of times, both in image form and in voice-over video form.

On July 26th, 2020, YouTuber Uncle Frozen Balloon posted a new voiceover of the image in which the quote is read in a demonic voice, garnering over 35,000 views in a year (shown below).



On the same date, Instagram[2] user @_kingorange shared the demonically voiced version of the meme, garnering over 320,000 views and 33,000 likes in a year. The video was shared numerous times across social media in the following year, inspiring a number of posts referencing it, attaching the phrase to new images (example shown below).[4]



On May 24th, 2021, Instagram[3] user @salad.snake posted the demonic version of the meme, garnering over 335,000 views and 69,000 likes in two weeks.
