About

Ways To Play Anthem refers to a series of jokes and memes about a tweet by Electronic Arts of a chart on their video game Anthem, which many found confusing and unnecessary.

Origin

On January 30th, 2019, the EA Help Twitter[1] account tweeted the original chart. Within one week, the post received more than 430 retweets and 1,200 likes (shown below). However, the tweet was the subject of a Twitter Ratio, which denotes a controversial tweet due to the fact that it received more comments than like and retweets.

Spread

Following the post, Users on Twitter began to criticize EA by using the format of the chart and photoshopping jokes onto the image. On January 31st, Twitterp[2] user @Musclebust replied to the original image "Hey, i fixed it for you", showing an image where a column titled, in part, "50% of the game because we shit the bed again." The post received more than 200 likes in five days (Shown below, left).

Over the next few days, other users continued to mock the post with different photoshops that criticized the gaming company (examples below, center and right).

Others criticized the chart for being "convoluted." On January 31st, Twitter user @JimSterling retweeted the image with the caption, "This convoluted shit is beyond ridiculous. Just. Make. And. Sell. A. Fucking. Game." Within one week, the tweet received more than 2,000 retweets and 10,000 likes (shown below).
