Wario Elon refers to the guest appearance of American entrepreneur Elon Musk as Wario:Wario from the Super Mario franchise in a Saturday Night Live skit. Images of Musk as Wario went viral on social media, with Musk's participation in the skit becoming a popular subject of discussions online.

On May 8th, 2021, episode 907 (48) of season 46 of Saturday Night Live comedy series, hosted by American entrepreneur Elon Musk, premiered on NBC.^[1]

The episode included a Super Mario-themed skit titled "Wario," with Elon Musk playing Wario (shown below). In the sketch, Wario is on trial for the murder of Mario during a Mario Kart after spinning him out with a banana peel. During the proceeding, Wario accuses Princess Peach, played by Musk's partner Grimes, of having an affair with Luigi.

Starting on May 9th, users on Twitter, Reddit and other sates made multiple memes based on images of Musk as Wario. For example, on that day Redditor^[2] ZakTheRedditor posted a When Your Custom Character Is in a Cutscene meme that gained over 71,300 upvotes in one day (shown below, left). On the same day, Twitter^[3] user @TygerbugGarrett posted a meme which combined the image of Musk with a 2018 joke by Twitter^[4] user @alexqarbuckle, with the post gaining over 10,600 retweets and 80,200 likes (shown below, right).

On May 9th, 2021, YouTuber^[5] Cr1tiKaL posted a video about the current state of Saturday Night Live and about the Elon Musk episode in particular (shown below).
