About

Wait This Isn't Google refers to an exploitable image of two tweets. One tweet asks a question that the poster of the tweet should know, and the response tweet reads "wait, this isn't Google", implying that the poster mistakenly used Twitter when they meant to use Google search.

Origin

The first meme of this kind featured Donald Trump asking "What does a President do?" While the first post of this meme is unknown, it was scraped from by meme aggregation site Sizzle[1] on February 16th, 2017.

Spread

It wasn't until several months later that the image began becoming a meme with different tweets. On July 17th, 2017, the image appeared on fake-tweet generator site Tweeterino[2] (shown below, left). On July 19th, Facebook page Young Thugga La Meme Season 2[3] uploaded a joke in the format about rapper xxxtentacion that gained over 2,900 likes and reactions.

On August 10th, Reddit user Ava Tyler[4] uploaded a Prequel Meme to /r/prequelmemes, gaining over 840 upvotes (shown below, left). On August 15th, 2017, an edit featuring Trump failing at Googling Kim Jong Un was posted to Dopl3r.[5]
