Vsauce Edits refer to screenshots of videos of popular informational YouTube channel Vsauce with their titles edited to make it appear as though the subject matter is dark and/or disturbing.

Origin

On March 15th, 2015, KnowYourMeme user Rie posted a screenshot of the Vsauce video "SCIENCE! What is the Rarest Precious Metal?"^[1] with the video title edited to read "Five Scientific Reasons to Kill Yourself." As of September 9, 2017 the image has received 111 upvotes and 45 favorites.^[2] According to a comment submitted by Rie, the image was originally discovered on Facebook.

On March 19th, 2015, a gallery of the edits was posted to Funnyjunk.^[7] On August 10th, 2015 Imgur user vesonator posted a gallery entitled "Somebody edited a bunch of Vsauce screenshots" which as of September 9th, 2017 has received 95 points and 5267 views (examples shown below).^[3] Another was posted on January 25th, 2017, which as of September 11th, 2017, has over 5,700 likes.^[5] eBaums World world posted a listicle of the memes the following day.^[6] On August 13th, 2017 A Vsauce memes subreddit was created and has gathered 5490 subscribers as of September 9, 2017.^[4]
