Vladimir, Stop! refers to a Truth Social post by U.S. President Donald Trump in which he responds to Russia's April 24th, 2025, strikes on Kyiv, Ukraine, writing, "I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP!" The post was made and went viral that day, inspiring discourse and memes that frame Trump's plea for Putin to "stop" as funny, useless and ineffective.

Origin

On April 24th, 2025, it was reported that Russia struck Kyiv with drones and missiles, killing 12 and injuring 90.[1] That morning, U.S. President Donald Trump made a post on Truth Social[2] reading, "I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!" The post gained over 37,000 likes and 7,500 retruths in a day.

The post quickly went viral, inspiring reactions and memes online. On April 24th, 2025, X[3] user @RonFilipkowski reposted the Truth Social post, writing, "A ‘Vladimir, STOP!’ post on Truth Social appears to be Trump’s secret plan revealed to end the war. We have never looked more foolish and pathetic," garnering over 28,000 likes in a day.

News about the post was shared on the /r/politics[4] subreddit around the same time, garnering over 27,000 upvotes in the same span of time.



About an hour later, X[5] user @reshetz posted, "To end the war, text STOP to VLADIMIR," garnering over 31,000 likes and 2,800 reposts in a day.



Also on April 24th, 2025, Redditor u/Tropink made a post to the /r/PoliticalCompassMemes[6] subreddit sharing a Political Compass and Babe Please Stop meme about the post, garnering over 4,800 upvotes in a day.

Shortly after, X[7] user @ posted, "Posting 'Vladimir, STOP!' has to be the funniest of all possible strategies for ending the Ukraine war," garnering over 13,000 likes in a day.



On April 25th, X[8] user @6ZeroGravity9 posted an edit of an image of a soldier spearing another soldier in the rear with a spear, depicting the spear wielder as Putin and the speared as Trump, garnering over 9,500 likes in under a day. The meme notably features a NAFO watermark.
