Virtual Sin Forgiveness refers to a series of memes inspired by Dan Hentschel's, "Virtual Sin Forgiveness" viral video in which he dresses as a Catholic Priest and absolves people of their sins. The video editing effects used by Hentschel, reminiscent of a powerful psychic attack, led to the spread of Duet style videos showing people being pushed back by Hentschel's power in early 2024.

On August 13th, 2023, comedian Dan Hentschel posted a video captioned "Virtual Sin Forgiveness" to his X,[1] TikTok and Instagram[2] accounts. The clip gathered over 24,000 likes on X and 520,000 likes on Instagram in roughly five months (seen below).

Spread

X[3] user @OwlLunch reposted the clip on January 25th, 2024, gathering over 59,000 plays and 19 million views in three days. Various X[4] users posted memes remixing the clip on January 27th, 2024, including @BepixelOfficial, whose upload gathered over 78,000 likes in two days (seen below).
