Ur Scaring the Hoes refers to a snowclone which uses the format "Bro, quit X, ur scaring the hoes," parodying a man telling his friend to stop doing something that's repelling women, though "X" is usually something gravely serious. The snowclone grew popular on Twitter in July of 2019.

Origin

On July 8th, the first instances of the snowclone appeared on Twitter from users @LilNightVision^[1] (shown below, left) and @puppytrampstamp.^[2] The following day, Twitter user @tallandhotguy^[3] posted the first popular variation, reading "bro quit letting the darkness consume you ur scaring the hoes," and gaining over 13,000 retweets and 40,000 likes (shown below, right).

Spread

Over the following several days, the format grew in popularity as people created increasingly ridiculous variations for the snowclone. User @djoats02^[4] tweeted "bro take off the naruto headband ur scaring the hoes," gaining over 1,000 retweets and 3,900 likes (shown below, left). User @y__dime^[5] tweeted "bro stop being passive aggressive and failing to communicate your needs ur scaring the hoes," gaining over 850 retweets and 2,200 likes (shown below, right).

Other popular examples include a tweet by @sshiro^[6] that gained over 360 retweets and 1,700 likes (shown below, left). On Tumblr, user ilovegeminis^[7] posted an example that gained over 2,100 notes (shown below, right).
