The meme trend continued to spread over the following months, going viral on sites like X, Reddit and Instagram. The memes play off the idea of a perceived phenomenon in which unemployed people become attractive to certain types of women, sometimes referred to as the "unemployment glow," with some suggesting that unemployed people have more time for personal care and grooming, thus making them more physically attractive.

Yep, I've seen [the unemployed glow] with my brother, who was constantly working his ass off for 10+ years, just to be let off by his new employer after just one year. He's struggling to find a new job for months now, but writing job applications doesn't take 8+ hours a day. So he's got a lot of time now to walk, work out regularly, sleep in and cook healthy. Shit's done wonders for his appearance and he looks younger and happier now.
