Two Men Kissing While Cooking, also known as 2 Guys Kissing Cutscene Cooking Videos or Sussy Recipe Videos, refer to a recipe parody style popularized on TikTok in August 2022. The meme typically uses bait-and-switch media as its hook, showing the steps to various food recipes but inserting a cut of two men or two animals kissing with no further explanation, which leads to the question Is That An Essential Step? being asked commonly in comments. The trend is often set to the song "Neverita" by Bad Bunny and took off on TikTok at the end of August 2022. It has since inspired various reactions, parodies and copycats into September. Some of the videos also notably use the Two Gay Niggas Kissing meme as the image.

On August 22nd, 2022, Bad Bunny uploaded the music video to his song "Neverita" to YouTube,^[5] gathering 62 million views in nearly a month (seen below).

On August 24th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @mister_papafrita posted a video recipe for loaded fries. The video starts off normally, with potatoes being deep fried and beef being cooked, but briefly cuts to two men kissing before showing the final result for the recipe. The video is set to the aforementioned remix of Bad Bunny's "Pa Ti". The post gathered over 4 million plays and over 400,000 views in a week (seen below).

The post also received comments reacting to it, often asking a variation of the question, "was that an essential step?" (seen below).

On August 27th, 2022, TikToker^[2] @huevokinderdalmal posted a recipe video for Starbucks banana split frappuccino. The video starts off normally with someone pouring milk into a cup and adding ice but briefly cuts to two men kissing before additional steps that complete the recipe. The post gathered over 5 million views and 600,000 likes in just four days, with comments containing variations of the phrase, "what was that step?" and "was that an essential step?". The next video^[3] by the account posted on the same day followed a similar format, with a recipe for cake-pops cutting to a brief shot of a dog biting on another dog's snout. This subsequent post received 8.2 million hits and 900,000 likes in four days as well. It can be accessed in the form of a duet as seen below.

On August 29th, the official KFC Espania^[4] TikTok account posted a video with the same format, this time using a penis-shaped chicken nugget as the shocking cut-screen. The post gathered over 1 million views and 200,000 likes in nearly two days (seen below).

The video format mainly grew in popularity through TikTok Duets. On August 31st, 2022, TikTok^[6] user @pieronc uploaded a video of him and his dog watching @mister_papafrita's video. The video received more than 5.1 million views in three weeks (shown below, left). On September 10th, 2022, TikTok^[7] user @onnichan.gusti uploaded a similar video. It received more than 2 million views in two weeks (shown below, right).

On September 11th, 2022, TikTok^[8] user @heladosroll uploaded a video of a toilet paper-shaped ice cream roll that cut to a clip of two cows kissing each other. The video received more than 14.2 million views in two weeks (shown below, left). On the next day, TikTok^[9] user @noeldeyzel_bodybuilder uploaded a video of himself making avocado toast cut with a clip of a man twerking. The video received more than 3.7 million views in two weeks (shown below, right).
