Origin

On June 11th, 2025, TikToker^[1] @9ineplayss posted a video, talking about the TikTok search term "TV" generating unspecified NSFW results. He added the caption, "NEVER SEARCH 'TV'" and the video received over 268,600 likes in two months (shown below).

Spread

On July 29th, 2025, TikToker^[2] @jus.jordon posted a video, using the Angry Grandpa 'Oh Hell No' sound, adding a POV caption about searching "TV" on TikTok. Over one month, the video received over 1.1 million likes (shown below).

On August 2nd, TikToker^[3] @nycmadeandy posted a nearly identical video, using the same sound and a POV caption outlining the same premise. Over three weeks, the video received over 1.6 million likes (shown below).

Posts about searching "TV" on TikTok continued in late August 2025 as word continued to spread about the phenomenon.

For instance, on August 21st, TikToker^[4] @z9chry posted a video that used the "I've seen way worse stuff like this on the internet" audio from Smiling Friends, paired with a POV caption about searching "TV" on TikTok and not being shocked by the results. The video gained over 54,100 likes in a day (shown below).
