Trump vs. Biden Election Parodies is an image edit series based on the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election Wikipedia entry.[1] The fake elections portrayed take place in either a foreign country, or an entirely fictional one, with the two candidates running for the election being based on 2020 US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

Origin

The original image appeared on Wikipedia following the formal nomination of President Donald Trump and Vice President Joe Biden in summer 2020 (shown below).

On October 2nd, 2020, Discord user mb tweeted the earliest known parody imaget, which featured the fictional "United Islamic States (shown below).


Spread

On October 3rd, 2020, Twitter [2] user @GerogeWBussh


The image was subsequently posted to various subreddits including r/PresidentialRaceMemes[3], r/ImaginaryElectionss[4] and r/MemriTVMemes[5]. It had also found its way into a number of other sites including Bunkerchan[6] and 4Chan's /pol/ imageboard[7].

A similar parody, focused on the Netherlands, was posted[8] on Dutch subreddit r/circeltrek on October 9, 2020, garnering over 1,800 upvotes in less than 24 hours. The fictional candidates named were "Donne-Jan Tromp" and "Joost Bijdens." The image for Donne-Jan Tromp was that of far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders (shown below, left).

Over the next week, variations of the meme continued to spread, particularly on the /r/PresidentialElectionMemes and /r/ImaginaryElections subreddit (examples below, center and right).
