Trisha Paytas Crying On The Floor refers to images and GIFs of YouTuber Trisha Paytas crying while sitting on her kitchen floor and wearing a shirt that says "UCLA" on it. The clip stems from a since-deleted 2016 video in which she cries about learning that her boyfriend Sean Van Der Wilt is gay. Screenshots and clips of Paytas crying became reaction images and GIFs in the years following the release of the clip as it became a meme format online.

Origin

In December 2016, YouTuber and content creator Trisha Paytas posted a series of videos breaking down and crying over the prospect that her then-boyfriend Sean Van Der Wilt might be cheating on her. One of the videos showed her wearing a white UCLA shirt with her blonde hair up in a bun as she cried while sitting on her kitchen floor.

The clip notably discussed the possibility of Sean Van Der Wilt being gay and was later deleted alongside the rest of the video series, but not before it gathered over 1 million views (seen below).

On December 11th, 2016, a reupload of the video was posted on YouTube[1] by user NapoNo15, accumulating over 40,000 views in six years (shown below).

An October 10th, 2022, post by X[2] user @darknyra used an image of Paytas crying in a meme about the TV series House of the Dragon, gathering over 14,000 likes in a year (seen below, left). A December 19th post by user @dirtylittlethot[3] using the image for a comparison meme gathered over 3,000 likes in 10 months (seen below, right).

A December 1st, 2022, post by X user @PauricOh[4] showing Paytas crying to create a meme referencing J.K. Rowling's TERF controversies gathered over 5,000 likes in 10 months (seen below).
