Tough Guy Entrance refers to a video of Jawad Bendaoud entering the courtroom for his sentencing after being convicted of sheltering Abdelhamid Abaaoud and Chakib Akrouh, two jihadists involved in the 2015 Paris Terrorist Attacks. Bendaoud's affected swagger was paired with humorous captions in which a person feels tougher than they actually are.

Origin

On March 29th, 2019, Jawad Bendaoud entered the Paris Court of Appeals for sentencing after being convicted of harboring jihadists involved in the 2015 Paris Terrorist Attacks.[1] He was sentenced to four years in prison. The following day, Twitter user @mohamedjellit posted video of Bendaoud's entrance to the courtroom with the caption, "Caption this" (shown below).



Spread

The clip began spreading through Twitter as people captioned the video, usually with situations wherein a character feels tougher than they are in reality. On March 31st, user @Tahsino_ posted it with the caption "How I enter my siblings room when my charger goes missing," gaining over 35,000 retweets and 91,000 likes (shown below, top). User @txrbz tweeted it the same day with the caption "This is how the substitute teacher walks back into the classroom after calling the headteacher to sort out the class," gaining 3,600 retweets and 14,000 likes (shown below, bottom).





Others made jokes about the upcoming Avengers: Endgame film. For example, user @FredTJoseph posted it with the caption "Me arriving to my horrible seats to watch Avengers Endgame," gaining over 3,200 retweets and 11,000 likes (shown below, top) and user @thcrodinsn posted it with the caption "carol walking into the avengers headquarters," gaining over 700 retweets and 3,100 likes (shown below, bottom). The jokes were covered by Twitter Moments.[2]
