The Too Loud Challenge or Cash App Challenge refers to a dance challenge on TikTok where users twerk in time to a section of the song "Cash App" by Louie Ray where clapping sounds can be heard. The trend originated on TikTok in early March 2022 and spread across the platform over the course of the month.

Origin

On March 7th, 2022, TikToker @arxxona posted a video with her friend where she lip dubs to "Cash App" by Louie Ray, dubbing, "I ain't even gotta walk out with my tool out," followed by her friend twerking to the song's clapping sounds, then dubbing, "it's getting too loud" (shown below). The video gained over 385,000 views in 10 days.

Spread

The original sound[2] for @arxxona's video became popularized over the course of the month as TikTokers performed the dance, as well as fake-out videos where it seems like they'll do the dance but don't. The sound gained over 19,900 uses by March 17th, 2022. On March 7th, TikToker @gushpop2 posted a video following the trend, gaining over 433,000 views in 10 days (shown below).

On March 8th, TikToker[3] @juju._61 posted a video following the trend under a new original sound consisting of the same song, gaining over 300,000 views in a week. The sound became similarly popularized, gaining over 16,000 uses by the same date (notable examples shown below).

On March 15th, 2022, TikToker @itsjustnyissa posted a video following the trend, gaining over 1.9 million views in two days (shown below).

On March 16th, Louie Ray posted a video of two women performing the trend on his Instagram[1] page, gaining over 65,000 views in a day (shown below). On the same date, Distractify[4] published an article about the challenge.
