Tom Brady's Huge Jacket is a series of jokes made about a picture of NFL quarterback Tom Brady of the New England Patriots wearing a massive coat during the Patriots victory in the 2017 AFC Championship Game against the Pittsburgh Steelers
Origin
In the first quarter of a cold and rainy 2017 AFC Championship game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on January 22nd, 2017, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was seen on the Patriots bench wearing a large coat (shown below).
Spread
The jacket instantly became a target of mockery on Twitter. Popular jokes included photoshopping Brady's coat to appear even larger, speculating what could be inside the coat, and comparing Brady to other oversized coats in pop culture, particularly David Byrne's famously large coat he wore in the Talking Heads film Stop Making Sense (shown below).
The jokes gained minor coverage in sports media. They were a Twitter Moment[1] the day of the game and gained media coverage from Fox News Insider,[2] Daily Mail,[3] USA Today,[4] and more.
