Tobi is a good boy is a phrase often quoted by fans of manga and anime series Naruto. The phrase is associated with Tobi, a member of the criminal organization Akatsuki who is known for his childish attitude and behavior.

Origin

The Phrase originated in chapter 280 of the manga which was released on October 31st, 2005. The phrase was uttered by Zetsu during Tobi's introduction.

Tobi: Will this be enough for me to join the Akatsuki?
Zetsu (black): Fool…It’s not that easy…
Zetsu (white): Why not…? Let him join…Tobi is a good boy…

The earliest example of the phrase being used was on January 10th, 2006, by Deviantart user Roymaru who submitted an image titled "He is a good boy.." (shown below) which gained over 4.100 views in 9 years^[1]. Typing the keyword "Tobi is a good boy" on Deviantart would yield more than 6.200 results^[2].

On April 29th, 2007, Urban Dictionary user Guinny submitted an entry regarding Tobi which uses the phrase as part of his description^[3]. On Fanfiction.net, atleast 67 Naruto related fanfics uses the phrase^[4].
On August 15th, 2007, Youtuber Tenshi, plz. began The Tobi Show fan series which centers around Tobi's life joining Akatsuki. The first episode (shown below, left) gained over 459.000 views in 7 years. The show ran for 16 episodes and 3 specials with the last episode uploaded on October 21st, 2008 (shown below, right) which gained over 175.000 views in 6 years.
