On March 4th, 2025, TikToker[1] @guy042210 posted a video of a teenage boy punching what the description claims to be a metal wall in a gymnasium near bleachers, then shrugging and walking off as if it didn't hurt him at all. The video, which uses a portion of the song "Shifting Sand Land" from Super Mario 64,[2] garnered over 14.4 million views in just under a month.
The video garnered viral spread throughout March 2025, primarily on TikTok and Instagram, inspiring memes online.
For instance, on March 10th, 2025, Instagram[3] user kinggeeker reposted it with the caption "Timmy Tough Knuckles over here," garnering over 4.4 million views in three weeks. On March 11th, Instagram[4] user Walher reposted it with the caption "Billy Badass over here," garnering over 55,000 likes in the same span of time.
On March 12th, Instagram[5] user trynottocringechallange reposted the video, garnering over 7.4 million views in roughly three weeks.
On the same day, TikToker[6] @leo.chapok posted a 99% accuracy meme reenactment video in which he recreates the viral video, garnering over 509,000 views in three weeks.
On March 13th, 2025, TikToker[7] @filip.yyc posted a similar meme recreating the Timmy Tough Knuckles video, garnering over 2.2 million views in around three weeks. On March 17th, Instagram[8] user reel_talk._ posted a podcast clip in which the hosts discuss the Timmy Tough Knuckles video, garnering over 3,400 likes in two weeks.
On March 19th, TikToker[9] @h00pify posted a video explaining Timmy Tough Knuckles with misinformation, garnering over 250,000 views in two weeks.
On March 25th, 2025, TikToker[10] @gdog1057 posted a recreation of the meme that gained over 150,000 views in a week.
