TikTok Clown Profile Pictures are photoshopped versions of TikTok user @i.am.trooper's profile picture in which clown characteristics are added and then posted in protest of @i.am.trooper for his comments on Minecraft.
Origin
On June 18th, 2019, @i.am.trooper posted two videos calling Minecraft a bad game and making fun of its players (shown below). His videos garnered over 2,100 likes and 3,800 likes respectively in eight days. The videos comment on the game's poor storyline, graphics and players who criticize Fortnite.
Spread
On June 20th, 2019, TikTok user @druzzi addressed @i.am.trooper saying "we're coming for you" (shown below, left). The video gained over 6,000 likes and 200 shares in six days. That same day @BoiJinniHere reposted the clown profile edit used in the @druzzi video calling on people to use it as their profile picture (shown below, right). The video gained over 700 likes and 50 shares in six days.
On June 20th, @gweeder posted a video of all the clown emoji comments on @trooper videos (shown below, left). Two days later, after many TikTok users changed their profile picture and posted videos using the clown picture with the hastag #troopercruisade, @silly_salmon posted a video explaining that they don't like @i.am.trooper for more things than his statements on Minecraft (shown below, right).
On June 22nd, @i.am.trooper explaining why clown profile pictures were all over TikTok (shown below, left). The video gained over 1,100 likes in four days. Two days later, he posted a video asking "Why are they so mad though?" (shown below, right). The video gained over 300 likes in two days.
